Yoga with Melanie Kordis

PLEASE NOTE: I will be out of town Friday, June 26 and there will be no class.  There will
be a class on Friday, July 3.

Restorative Yoga: Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm

Gentle Yoga: Fridays from 9-10am

Yoga Class Rate: $10 per class, cash or check only.

Gentle Yoga:  Start Friday mornings with an experienced yoga instructor who will guide you through gentle movements and supported postures.  Improve your flexibility, strength, balance and focus.  Gentle yoga is ideal for the beginner or those wanting a relaxed practice.

Restorative Yoga:  Thursday evening offers a form of therapeutic relaxation utilizing props and blankets to modify calming yoga poses. The postures gently open the body to deep relaxation and healing.  This class is recommended for anyone needing stress reduction, suffering from chronic pain, illness, or injury, or just wanting to relax.

MelanieAbout the Instructor: Melanie Kordis first became enamored with yoga while watching Richard Hittleman on television as a stay-at-home mom caring for two daughters age 1 and 3 (now age 23 and 25). She admits it was the calmest part of the day! After television teachers came videos and books and two years later a classroom in Okinawa, Japan where she met her first teacher and received her initial certification. Melanie received her second certification from the Institute of Yoga in Houston, Texas in 1996 and became registered with Yoga Alliance at the 500 hour level in 2002.  Since moving to Virginia Beach in 1995 she has taught in many venues and audiences in the Tidewater area including three teacher training programs.

Primarily known for her gentle and restorative yoga classes, private sessions and workshops, one student said taking a class with Melanie was like coming home to cookies and milk, a place where you feel safe. Her passion for teaching is reflected with genuine empathy for individuals and respect for “the journey”. Her favorite quote is from the laughing Buddha…..who reminds us not to take anything in life too seriously. “I am excited to be teaching at Nimmo Wellness Center; it is filled with light and warmth.  Please join me in this new adventure.”
